We saw a diverse range of initiatives in 2024 and achieved some great milestones. But we’re not stopping there, and we’re excited to do more in 2025.
Here are some of the highlights from 2024.
UniSuper does Midsumma
All the way back in January, we participated in the Midsumma carnival and pride march for the first time—the only super fund at the event. We were delighted to interact with so many people from all walks of life, both belonging to the LGBTQIA+ community and not. Our team handed out sunscreen and other goodies, true to being comfortable in one’s own skin.
We’ll be showing our support for the LGBTQIA+ community once more in 2025—come and say hello at the Midsumma Carnival on 19 January and the Pride March on 2 February.

Supporting age inclusion
At UniSuper, our purpose is to help our members achieve great retirement outcomes. We know it’s vital to be set up financially, but to be happy and healthy in retirement – to feel included – is also important. We spoke to UniSuper Private Client Adviser, Kiran Bhullar, and clinical geropsychologist at the University of Queensland, Dr Nancy Pachana, about how we can support age inclusivity.
Nancy is among the academic experts that will feature in our upcoming thought leadership series on retirement. Keep an eye out for these pieces throughout 2025.

Volunteering at UniSuper
All full-time employees at UniSuper have access to three days’ Community, Culture & Wellbeing Leave each year, free to be used on meaningful pursuits of their choosing. We teamed up with Inspiring Girls Australia in 2024, which saw some of our incredible role models visit schools to mentor the next generation of women. Hear from Manager, Cyber Resilience, Christie Wilson; ESG Analyst, Ines Ivankovic; and Manager, Select Advice, Renae Anderson.
We’re excited to see what our mentors can achieve and the knowledge they can bestow in 2025.

Supporting our employer partners
Our dedicated team of employer partnerships managers (EPMs) works hard every day to serve our valued employer partners across the country. Strong employer partners mean a stronger UniSuper, and that’s good for every member. EPMs work closely with our partner universities and school communities to deliver unique and meaningful initiatives, covering education, health and wellbeing, support for First Nations peoples and much more.
We’ve got plenty more great initiatives planned with our employer partners in 2025. If you’d like to connect with one of our dedicated EPMs to hear more about how we can support you and your employees, you can email Matt Adams, Manager, Employer Partnerships at UniSuper, on matt.adams@unisuper.com.au.

Bridging the emissions gap
In helping our members create a future worth retiring for, we have a role to play in ensuring a sustainable future. We’re working hard to reduce our environmental footprint in our day-to-day operations and in our carbon offsets—our corporate operations have been carbon-neutral certified for FY20, FY21, FY22 and FY23 by Federal Government body Climate Active. We’re working towards our FY24 certification as of 4 December 2024.
We’re continuing our involvement with various projects into 2025, buying carbon offsets—creating an equilibrium between emissions and removing those emissions.
